Speaking
When I was 13, I won a national poetry competition. I got published, and was able to perform my work live on stage. Ever since, I have regularly engaged in poetry and spoken word events as an artist.
Since my first non-fiction book ‘Weg met mannelijkheid’ got published, I have been invited to speak at multiple events. Such as high school class room sessions and conferences.
And I am active as a moderator guiding dialogue sessions, most particularly in and around the theatre.
In short, I am invested in creating ripples of positive change, both on and off stage.
Performances
Words have set me free. Language has allowed me to create worlds completely of my own making. Ever since I started writing, I am being invited to perform these worlds of words on stage. Join me for my next performance as I continue to inspire with my poetry and prose.
Guest speaker
My guest speaking performance is both professional as well as personal. The stories I share are based on facts and life experience, and always current. And my contribution is of course tailored to the event.
Themes I address might include:
– Masculinity in this day and age
– Queerness
– Color
– Youth
– Or an intersection of the above
Moderator
In my role as moderator, I strive to support others in sharing their stories. Enabling other people to do that is a conversational art in and of itself.
As moderator, it is my responsibility to provide a base level support in the form a safe(r) space, by setting healthy boundaries. And to make clear that all voices are worth being heard. My interventions are aimed at facilitating a dialogue, with listening at centre stage. Due to my ambivert personality (in between introvert and extravert) I know how to move with the flow of an audience.
Occassions I have moderated so far, are:
– After talks in theatre
– Brainstorm sessions
– Intervision sessions
– Awaydays
Support your next dialogue sessions by engaging with a contemporary voice.
